Contemporary villa exterior with cantilevered roof and sea views, southwest Mallorca

RESIDENTIAL

Cliffside Villa

Few sites in Mallorca are as uncompromising as this. Perched directly above the cliffs of the southwest coast, this contemporary villa doesn't frame the Mediterranean — it surrenders to it entirely.

The architecture responds to the terrain with a series of horizontal volumes cascading down the clifftop, each terrace dissolving into the next. Floor-to-ceiling glazed facades and a fully retractable folding wall system erase the boundary between interior and exterior. An infinity pool appears to float above open water, its surface merging with the horizon at sunset.

Inside, the material palette is deliberately restrained — limestone floors, white plaster walls, natural oak — allowing the panoramic views to claim every room. The sculptural helical staircase is the one moment of pure architectural gesture: a white ribbon spiraling through a double-height void, suspended pendant bulbs catching the light as it floods in through the glazed tower behind.

Photography captures the full arc of the day. Morning light on the terrace. The warm amber glow of golden hour reaching across the dining room from the sea. The villa lit from within at dusk, glowing against an orange horizon over the cliffs. These are images of a building that earns its place on one of Mallorca's most dramatic stretches of coastline.
